SDI has designed, implemented and maintained extremely reliable high performance wireless networks in some of the most difficult and harshest environments for wireless solutions on earth.

SDI has experience with indoor, outdoor and mobile wireless technologies. The following cases highlight some of the unique solutions SDI has worked with on behalf of our customers.

• High-speed, high-capacity, fully-redundant wireless Wide Area Network deployment in a tropical island environment. Engineering challenges included long distance wireless hops across Open Ocean, signal loss due to rain fade and installation in remote mountainous rugged terrain. Due to the nature of and the redundancy requirements of this network SDI has implemented smart signal technology utilizing global positioning synchronization for all radios.



• Wireless Local Area Network, supporting hand-held inspection devices in a harsh rail yard transportation environment. Challenged by the difficulty of penetrating steel-skinned rail cars, SDI's solution effectively goes through up to 8 side-by-side rail cars, allowing inspectors the range they need to complete their work effectively and without signal loss. Additionally due to the lay-outs of the various train yards and the inability to run power cables across train tracks, several of the wireless radio sites were without available power. SDI engineered a solution that gave our customer the wireless coverage they needed with the appropriate signal strength required to connect the handheld devices and keep them connected until the job was complete.



• Maintaining sensitive, electronic wireless equipment across an entire city bus fleet. SDI not only installs wireless solutions but also maintains a variety of wireless equipment. Challenged to keep a city's 2000-strong bus fleet connected to their backend tracking system, SDI was asked to take over the maintenance of Cisco Mobile Access Router devices and given the directive to increase the reliability of the system. SDI decreased connectivity-related issues by over 50%, despite equipment's daily exposure to rough city streets.



• Installing thousands of access points throughout 600-school campus environments.
SDI also has vast experience with traditional Indoor Wireless access points. Challenged logistically to deploy wireless technology in the midst of the academic school year, SDI surveyed client facilities and installed thousands of Cisco Aironet access points across a large metropolitan school district. SDI technicians' rapid deployment capabilities coupled with our sensitivity to the educational environment delivered a fully-functional wireless environment that met all client requirements.
