Today's tollways are increasingly technology-intensive. Increases in traffic load, the advent of digital tolls, and the sudden availability of advanced technologies have transformed today's Tollways. SDI is at the forefront of tollway technologies, helping clients use advanced technologies to manage their assets and operations more effectively.

SDI is the program manager for one of the largest tollway intelligent roadway systems in the world, spanning over 274 miles of interstate tollways in 12 counties. Road speed sensors and digital cameras and pass information back to a main command center for processing. At the command center, managers assess conditions and utilize a variety of methods to optimize traffic flow. The command center can alert riders to problems and re-route them using dynamic messaging signs, and traffic accidents are quickly detected and responses are dispatched.

SDI also implements back-office systems for tollways; we are currently assisting one of the largest tollways in the country to implement an ERP system. SDI is performing vital Independent Verification and Validation work to ensure that the system meets requirements.
