SDI Sponsors 14th Annual Chicago Cares Serve-a-Thon

Team Beautifies CPS School Where It Implemented Wireless Network In 2004

Chicago, June 10, 2007- SDI (System Development.Integration, LLC), a public sector systems integrator specializing in command environment systems, infrastructure and operations, sponsored and participated in the14th annual Chicago Cares 2007, the largest single day of community service in the City of Chicago, on June 9th. SDI Team received a Chicago Cares award for “Most Serv-A-Thon Spirit” for outstanding performance at their school.

The Serve-a-Thon brought out thousands of volunteers who fanned out across the City to 52 different sites with the purpose of helping communities in need. As Mayor Richard Daley stated in his morning address to volunteers prior to the event kick off, "What makes Chicago different is we have a soul, and the soul today reaches out to everyone in the community."

The SDI Team was dispatched to the City’s Locke Elementary school - the same Chicago Public School in which SDI’s infrastructure team installed wireless access points as part of ERATE 2004. The 40-plus member Team was tasked with painting hallways, stairways and several classrooms. SDI participants, which included family members and friends, stated that they felt proud to make a hands-on difference in the community.

SDI President David A. Gupta and SDI Executive Vice President Brian Diver both participated in the event. "We view the Chicago Cares event as a great opportunity to give back to the community in which we all live and work," said David Gupta.

“From the executive management level to the administrative level, SDI is a company that cares about community. We believe in investing not just dollars but also time into improving the lives of others. I was proud to be a part of that day and of the success that my team brought to the school.” said Brian Diver.

The Chicago Cares event is part of SDI’s 11th Year program, which was created as part of last year’s 10 year anniversary celebration and to reaffirm its core business value of giving back to its community. In addition to SD·I corporate philanthropic efforts, the 11th Year Program provides a quarterly event for its employees to participate in community activities and team building events.
