
A major municipal water utility chose SDI to integrate SCT’s BANNER Customer Information System (CIS) to develop an integrated water billing system. SDI provided business process analysis, design and implementation of computing systems infrastructure, overall system test and commissioning. The comprehensive, Y2K-compliant technology provides billing, accounts receivable, and collections functionality. This billing system efficiently and easily provides both employees and resident customers more information about their bills.
The water utility executives sought an integrated billing, water meter interface, and customer information system. It also intended to purchase outsourced service for database maintenance, billing, accounts receivable management, and debt collections. This complex project had a significant impact on the manner in which the utility conducts business. The installation of the new billing system replaced the legacy water system, which was not Y2K-compliant. In addition, it provided city employees with greater access to information.
The billing system was rolled out on-line prior to the year 2000 deadline, satisfying all compliance issues. The water utility actively uses its new billing system as part of its daily operations.
