SDI was contracted by a municipal housing authority, to create and implement Emergency Evacuation Plans and High-Rise Building Emergency Procedures for 182 residential, senior residential, and administration buildings.
The goal of the housing authority is to meet the minimum requirements of the High-Rise Buildings/Emergency Procedure Ordinance that the city council mandated.
The authority has Emergency Plans and Procedures for all of their high-rise buildings. Building managers and the residents have been instructed and practiced what actions to take in an emergency situation. Manuals, hand-outs, and a video have been supplied to each building to support and remind the manager and residents what to do in an emergency. Clear, accurate, ADA-approved signage is located in each building. Building and resident information has been provided to the city's emergency management office and to the fire department for use during their response to an emergency.
